Abhan Tulku

In 1985, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche recognized Rinpoche’s first born son as the reincarnation of Drime Abhan Tulku Pema Thugje Wangchuk. Later that year, His Holiness the Dalai Lama confirmed this recognition and gave the boy the name Abhan Tulku, Tenzin Thugje Wangchuk.

Tulku received the whole range of empowerments and transmissions for the Nyingma Kama at the feet of the great protector Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, and from Penor Rinpoche, he received all the empowerments and transmissions for the great Treasury of Precious Termas. Later from Khyentse Rinpoche, he received transmissions for the collected works of Ju Mipham Rinpoche and empowerments for Peaceful Manjushrī of the Tantric System and Wrathful Yamāntaka: Lord of Life. After receiving from Penor Rinpoche transmissions for all of Khen Nuden’s teachings, including his commentary on Armor Against Darkness, itself a commentary on the Discourse on United Intent, he enrolled in the scripture college at Namdroling Monastery where he stayed for some years before returning to Dharamsala to assist his father.

Tulku Urgyen Rigdzin

On March 22, 1998, Abhan Tulku, and his wife had a son named Urgyen Rigdzin. In 2004, he was recognized as the reincarnation of Pema Namgyal Rinpoche of Lingkashi, who was in turn the incarnation of the great tertön Dudul Lingpa, Dhida Karma Rinpoche. Tulku Urgyen is a gentle child with a strong spiritual disposition. He is very affectionate, polite and well-behaved. After his recognition, he began his formal studies by learning the classical Tibetan language and memorizing a number of important Nyingma prayers. In 2008 he joined Mindrolling Monastery in Dehra Dun, where he has begun his scripture studies in earnest.
